Biography for Rozanna Weinberger

Rozanna Weinberger is a classically trained violist who has steadily forged new ground, redefining the role of a contemporary string musician. Her career has been marked by remarkable achievements, including world premieres by distinguished composers. Notably, she performed a concerto by Pulitzer Prize and Kennedy Center Honors recipient Tania Leon, and has appeared at the International Viola Congress.

Weinberger's artistic versatility extends beyond classical music. She is equally comfortable creating popular music, and her award-winning music video, "Chromatic Fantasy," was screened at international film festivals and televised throughout North and South America. Her unique style led to recording a solo viola part for Christopher Mangum, which accompanied the King Tut Exhibition during its worldwide museum tour. As a recording artist, she has contributed to recordings for Arabesque Recordings and North Pacific Music.

Her personal journey is as inspiring as her professional achievements. After breaking her neck at age 15, Weinberger not only rebuilt her playing ability but went on to graduate from two of the most prestigious music institutions: the Peabody Conservatory of Music and Juilliard. These physical challenges prompted her to develop a deep, kinesthetic approach to string playing and teaching, fostering a highly cultivated sense of balance.

Weinberger's commitment to music as a transformative force is evident in her community work. She conducted a workshop at the United Nations for over 1,500 children, titled "Where There Is Life There is Music," and performed a recital at the Dag Hammarskjöld Auditorium. Her influence extends to educational institutions, having been a guest speaker at Juilliard and a panelist at Peabody Conservatory. She has also served as a music consultant for Head Start and the New York Pops Music Outreach programs.

In 2011, driven by a vision to make string playing more creative and inclusive, Weinberger founded Rozanna's Violins. Her goal was to transform a once-rarified musical experience into something accessible and appealing to a broader audience. Taking inspiration from the guitar world's diverse instrument designs and musical styles, she developed a brand of high-quality bowed string instruments that are both visually striking and musically sophisticated.

Rozanna's Violins offers instruments that cater to different levels and sensibilities. Student-level instruments are designed to resonate with children's creativity, while professional-level electric acoustic violins serve as tools for modern musicians. Notably, her line includes models that celebrate diverse cultures, promoting inclusivity in the world of string playing.

The brand quickly gained recognition. Guitar Center began carrying her instruments, leading to commissions for models associated with popular franchises like FROZEN, Star Wars, and Game of Thrones—a groundbreaking moment that brought violins into mainstream musical consciousness. The Drew Barrymore Show has also commissioned custom models, and Rozanna's Violins has created instruments for artists worldwide.

Through her innovative approach, Rozanna Weinberger has not just created a violin brand, but a movement that challenges traditional perceptions of string instruments and their place in contemporary music.
